Bharat Dynamics Q4 FY25 Results: Profit Declines Amidst Revenue Surge

NationalBharat Dynamics Q4 FY25 Results: Profit Declines Amidst Revenue Surge

On May 28, 2025, Bharat Dynamics Ltd. (BDL), a key player in India’s defense manufacturing sector, announced its financial results for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2024-25. The company reported a 5.5% year-on-year decline in net profit, amounting to ₹272.77 crore, compared to ₹288.78 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year.

Despite the dip in profitability, BDL’s revenue from operations more than doubled, reaching ₹1,776.98 crore, up from ₹854.12 crore in Q4 FY24. This significant increase in revenue indicates strong demand and robust order execution in the defense sector.

Market Reaction: Share Price Declines

Following the announcement, BDL’s share price experienced a decline of nearly 6%, hitting an intraday low of ₹1,844.10 on the BSE. The market’s reaction reflects investor concerns over the decline in net profit despite the impressive revenue growth.

Operational Metrics: Margins Under Pressure

BDL’s earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) stood at ₹398.54 crore, a slight decrease of 1.57% year-on-year. The EBITDA margin contracted to 22.43% in Q4 FY25 from 47.41% in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, indicating increased operational costs and margin pressures.

Dividend Announcement

The company’s board recommended a final dividend of ₹0.65 per equity share for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025. This is in addition to the interim dividend of ₹4 per share declared earlier in February 2025.

Analyst Perspectives: Long-Term Outlook

Despite the short-term decline in profitability, analysts remain optimistic about BDL’s long-term prospects. Nuvama Institutional Equities revised its target price for BDL upwards by 36%, citing the company’s robust order backlog of ₹22,800 crore and expectations of over 60% compounded annual revenue growth from FY25 to FY27.

Bharat Dynamics’ Q4 FY25 results present a mixed picture: while the company faces challenges in maintaining profitability, its substantial revenue growth and strong order book suggest a positive long-term trajectory. Investors and stakeholders will be closely monitoring how BDL navigates operational efficiencies and capitalizes on its growth opportunities in the defense sector.
