In a significant development in the job sector of Assam, the Chief Minister of the state, Himanta Biswa Sarma distributed appointment letters to 385 successful candidates. The letters were handed over to the candidates at a grand recruitment ceremony that was held in Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Auditorium. The recruitment event highlighted the government’s commitment to improving employment opportunities in the state.

Appointment letters distributed to 385 candidates

The major recruitment event witnessed appointment letters being distributed across various departments. Various positions across departments have been filled with the successful completion of this event. Notable to mention a total of 183 letters were distributed under the Directorate of Vocational Education, 81 under the Directorate of Higher Education, and 20 lecturer positions were assigned within the State Education Research and Training Council. In addition to that, 101 appointments were made under the Health and Family Welfare Department.

Government exceeds goal of creating 100,000 jobs

Expressing pride in the achievements of the state, CM Sarma announced that the government has fulfilled its promise of creating employment opportunities by granting 100,000 government jobs in the state. Not only the government had kept its promise, but also exceeded their initial goal. With a total of 125,030 recruitments made till date, he focused on the significant strides the state has made in fostering job growth.

Addressing challenges in recruiting engineering faculty

CM Sarma while distributing the appointment letters also took this opportunity to acknowledge the challenges encountered in the past while recruiting engineering faculty. He assured the attendees that corrective measures are in progress to address this issue. Furthermore, the CM announced plans to appoint 136 engineering lecturers soon so as to meet the increasing demands of educational institutions.

Recruitment Initiatives In Progress

Looking ahead, Sarma highlighted that recruitment efforts are not slowing down. He confirmed that processes are currently in progress to fill an additional 35,000 positions across various departments. This signals a robust approach undertaken by the government to address employment needs in the state.

In a recent recruitment event held at GMCH Auditorium, Sarma also shared the news of a semiconductor plant in Jagiroad. This semi-conductor plant which is under construction is expected to create more job opportunities for the youth of Assam. He urged young people in the state to prepare themselves to take advantage of the new employment prospects that this high-tech facility will bring once it becomes operational.

In the recent appointments of the state, a total of 81 Assistant Engineers (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Chemical) have been appointed in Public Health Engineering Department, 100 Urban Technical Officers, and 101 Financial Management Officers in Housing & Urban Affairs Department, along with 12 Senior Scientist Officers and 6 Junior Officers have been appointed in the Directorate of Forensic Science.

In addition to the job creation in the state, Sarma also emphasized on the BJP government’s focus on the advancement of forensic science. As per his statement, the number of forensic laboratories in Assam has increased to six, reflecting the government’s commitment to improving law enforcement and the judicial process. Moreover, plans are underway to establish a National University of Forensic Science in the state, which is expected to further enhance Assam’s forensic capabilities. The increased number of forensic laboratories and the upcoming university will help boost the conviction rates of Assam and enhance the ability to solve complex cases.

With these appointments, the total number of candidates recruited by the BJP-led government in Assam has increased to 124,645, thus exceeding the initial target of 100,000 jobs. CM Sarma has reiterated the government’s commitment to continuing its efforts to create more job opportunities and improve the state’s economic conditions.
Through these initiatives, the Assam government is not only enhancing job availability but also striving to elevate educational standards, ensuring that the youth are equipped with the necessary skills and opportunities for their future.
