  • Lower Primary (LP) Schools: 2,900 Assistant Teacher positions
  • Upper Primary (UP) Schools: 1,600 positions, including Assistant Teachers, Science Teachers, and Hindi Teachers

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates must meet specific educational qualifications and age requirements to be considered for these positions.

• Nationality: Applicants must be Indian citizens and permanent residents of Assam.
• Age Limit: Candidates should be between 18 and 40 years as of January 1, 2025. Age relaxations are applicable as follows:
  • OBC/MOBC: 3 years
  • SC/ST(P)/ST(H): 5 years​
  • Ex-Servicemen: 2 years​
  • Persons with Disabilities (PwD): 10 years
• Educational Qualifications:
  • Assistant Teacher (LP):
    • Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks.
    • 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
    • Qualified in Assam TET or Central TET for Lower Primary School.
  • Assistant Teacher (UP):
    • Graduate from a UGC-recognized university.
    • 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or Bachelor of Education/Bachelor of Elementary Education.
    • Qualified in Assam TET or Central TET for Upper Primary School.
  • Science Teacher (UP):
    • B.Sc. from a UGC-recognized university.
    • 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or Bachelor of Education/Bachelor of Elementary Education.
    • Qualified in Assam TET or Central TET for Upper Primary School.
  • Hindi Teacher (UP):
    • Graduate with Hindi as one of the subjects from a UGC-recognized university.
    • 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or Bachelor of Education/Bachelor of Elementary Education.
    • Qualified in Assam TET or Central TET for Upper Primary School.

The application window opened on March 8, 2025, and the deadline for submission is today, April 8, 2025. Selection Procedure:

The selection process will be based on merit, considering the candidates’ academic performance and their scores in the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). DEE Assam will publish a district-wise, medium-wise, and category-wise breakdown of vacancies, including reservations for OBC/MOBC, SC, ST(P), ST(H), PwD, women, and ex-servicemen candidates.

Salary Structure:

Selected candidates will be placed in Pay Band-2, with a salary ranging from Rs. 14,000 to Rs. 70,000, along with applicable grade pay and other allowances as per Assam Service (Revision of Pay) (Amendment) Rules, 2019.​

Important Considerations:

• Small Family Norms: Candidates with more than two living children on or after January 1, 2021, are ineligible for appointment, in line with the government’s policy on small family norms.
• Medium of Instruction: The language chosen in Assam TET or Central TET must align with the medium of instruction of the school to which the candidate is applying.​
