The Assam girls team showed astonishing skills and teamwork, therefore securing victory in the 3rd East Zone National Mini Roll Ball Championship that was held in Kolkata.

Assam girls team wins the title after defeating Odisha (7-1) in the finals of the 3rd East Zone National Mini Roll Championship, which was held in Kolkata.

About the 3rd East Zone National Mini Roll Ball Championship

The National Mini Roll Ball championship was a 2-day event that started on November 9th and ended on 10th, 2024. It was held at the IEM Institute of Kolkata’s Salt Lake.

The Assam girls team showed astonishing skills and teamwork, therefore securing victory in the league stages, including wins over Odisha (3-1), Bihar (7-2) and West Bengal (7-0). 

In the boy’s category, Team Assam was defeated by the Odisha team with a score of (0-10) in the final and hence had to settle for silver after a tough final. Despite the loss in the final, the overall performance of the boys team throughout the championship was quite satisfactory; their impressive performance in the league stages included wins against Odisha (1-1), Bihar (6-1), Meghalaya (8-0), Chhattisgarh (7-0), and West Bengal (8-0).

Girls: Dishana Rajkumari (captain), Jaishingpha Phukan, Ashmita Bora, Ridisha Sarma, Kristina Khashyap, Nishtha Chaliha, Shahreen Hussain, Anoohya Borthsakur, Gouri Sikha Kalita, Harshika Roy, Jessica Roy and Yashvi Kangkaria.

Boys: Shreyansh Ojah (Captain), Mourya Das, Riaan Hazarika, Vyom Chakrabarty, Manvik Agarwal, Deepansh Agarwal, Gitanshu Bora, Parth Jain, Kiaan Singh, Dibyangshu Patowary, Adikshit Gogoi, and Hirakjyoti Gogoi.

Officials praising the team

Upon the Assam girls victory at the 3rd East Zone National Mini Roll Ball Championship, Bhumidhar Barman, the General Secretary of the Assam Roll Ball Association, praised both the teams for their excellent performances throughout the championship. He expressed pride in their achievements, especially the girls’ title win, and noted that despite the boys’ silver medal finish, the team’s efforts had left a lasting impression on the audience.

What is a Mini Roll Ball Game?

Roll ball is a game played between two teams and is a unique blend of roller skates, basketball, handball, and throwball. It involves dribbling a ball on roller skates and scoring goals; each team consists of twelve players, six on the field and six in reserve. 

It is played on hard surfaces or ice with Roller skates without stoppers, goalposts, ball, game clock, scoreboard, safety guards, and first aid.
