In a significant development regarding the proposed Flyover Project at Dighalipukhuri in Guwahati, the government of Assam has reconsidered its decision to cut down trees in Guwahati’s Dighalipukhuri area and revised the proposed flyover plan. In this regard, the court has received assurance from the Public Works Department (PWD) of Assam.

Chief Minister Re-evaluates Flyover Project
As a result of the massive protests, Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma decided to reverse the project and modify the flyover’s design to conserve the trees of the eco-sensitive region at Dighalipukhuri. The region serves as an essential source of fresh air in the face of increasing pollution levels in the city.
PWD Submits Revised Flyover Plan to Court
The Public Works Department (PWD) submitted an affidavit regarding the flyover project, wherein they stated the updated designs have taken environmental concerns into account while choosing a chemne that preserves the age-old trees in the ecologicallyb significant location.
New Flyover Project Balances Infrastructure and Ecology
In order to strike a balance in the infrastructural objectives with environmental preservation, the updated design now includes an arm that extends from GNB Road toward Lamb Road and another branch heading towards Rabindra Bhawan.
