The Assam government has officially released the Gunotsav 2025 results today, March 27, 2025. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the outcomes during a ceremony at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati.
Gunotsav is a comprehensive assessment program aimed at evaluating and enhancing the quality of education in Assam’s elementary and secondary schools. This year, the initiative assessed 38,98,945 students across 44,077 schools, with evaluations conducted by 17,585 external evaluators.
Top Performing Districts
In the 2025 assessment, Shivsagar district has secured the top position for the third consecutive time. Following closely are Golaghat and Dibrugarh districts, which have achieved the second and third ranks, respectively.
Areas of Concern
Despite the overall positive outcomes, the government has expressed concern over the performances of three districts under the Sixth Schedule—West Karbi Anglong, Karbi Anglong, and Chirang. Chief Minister Sarma has urged educators in these regions to address the challenges and work towards improving educational standards.
Special Recognitions
The assessment also highlighted achievements in specific areas:
- Mid-Day Meal and Uniform Implementation: Shivsagar, Majuli, and Saraideo districts secured the first, second, and third places, respectively, for effective implementation of mid-day meal programs and uniform standards. Notably, 92% of schools maintained the prescribed uniform standards.
- Cleanliness (Swachata): Golaghat district topped the rankings for cleanliness, with Kamrup Metro and Jorhat districts following in second and third positions.
