Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, has launched direct flight to Bangkok from Guwahati from today onwards.

The flight is operated by Thai Air Asia. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Shri Ankur Jain, Director, IPS, Assam Skill Development Mission, Chief Airport Officer, (LGBI Airport) Shri Utpal Baruah and Ms. Wuitchuni Kuntapeng, Chief Executive Officer, Thai Air Asia, Bangkok and Shri Shyam Malani, Director, Indo Thai, Guwahati.

The flight landed at LGBI airport at 11.10 pm with total of 56 passengers and left at 11.40 pm, for Bangkok with 97 passengers on the first day.

The flight will be operated now three days a week, on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The flight will take off from the LGBI airport at 11.40 pm and land in Bangkok at around 2.15 pm Indian time, early morning in Thailand.

In the future, this airline will provide onward connectivity to Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Utpal Baruah, CAO has spoke on the occasion and said, – “our airport has marched ahead with this new connection towards making this airport a hub to the South East Asian countries. It will give a fillip to the tourism industry in this region. We all, airport, airline, government and other stakeholders should work jointly to take this route sustainable.
