AssamJorhat: Low Intensity Explosion Rocks Military Station Gate

A low-intensity explosion rattled the vicinity outside the Army gate of Jorhat military station in Assam late on Thursday, as reported by the Guwahati Defence Public Relations Officer (PRO). Preliminary details suggest that two individuals on motorcycles carried out the attack, hurling a grenade towards the army camp, marking the latest in a series of incidents targeting military installations in the region.

Low Intensity Explosion In Jorhat

While investigations are still underway to gather comprehensive details, sources indicate that the militant group ULFA-I (United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent) has claimed responsibility for the blast. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported in connection with the incident, offering a sense of relief amid heightened security concerns.

This explosion follows closely on the heels of two separate grenade blasts on November 22 and December 9. On November 22, a grenade detonated outside the gates of an Army camp in Dirak, Tinsukia district, with no casualties reported. The recurrence of such incidents underscores the ongoing security challenges faced by military personnel and installations in the region.

Security Response:

In the wake of these attacks, security measures have been intensified, with authorities working diligently to ensure the safety of military personnel and the surrounding communities. The incidents have prompted a review of existing security protocols to address potential vulnerabilities and prevent further threats.
