In a tragic accident in Tinsukia, a car carrying six members of a family accidentally plunged into an under-construction culvert in Tinsukia, Assam, claiming the lives of four , while two others were severely injured. The incident took place at around 4 a.m. on the bypass connecting Dihingia Gaon along the Tinsukia-Dibrugarh route.
Family on way to wedding
The car, a Swift Dzire was carrying six passengers in the vehicle, including a 5-year-old child. The other victims were estimated to be between 40 and 45 years of age. The victim family were on their way from Bihar to attend a wedding in Tinkusia.
Two other family members who survived were immediately taken to the Assam Medical College in Dibrugarh for emergency treatment.
Authorities yet to identify victims
The authorities have not yet formally identified the victims, though the initial details about the accident came to light without delay. Witnesses from the nearby Dihingia Gaon were the first to respond to the accident.
Locals Express Frustration
Locals expressed deep frustration over the dilapidated condition of the road while aiding the injured, highlighting the incomplete state of the culvert as an obvious safety issue. Locals have urged the construction contractor and authorities to complete the construction of the bypass at the earliest to avoid such incidents in the future.
